ZAM TO HOST THE THIRD ANNUAL MANUFACTURERS WEEK

Zambia Association of Manufacturers (ZAM) annually hosts the Manufacturers’ Week to promote and celebrate the significant role that the manufacturing sector plays in fostering Zambia’s socio-economic development. This year’s event will be extraordinary in that it coincides with the country’s celebration of the 50th Independence Anniversary.

As it has become our custom; ZAM will be holding its third Manufacturers’ Week from 12th to 17th October, 2014.  The event is the manufacturing sector’s formal contribution to the jubilee celebrations and is being held within the confines of the these celebrations under the theme “Celebrating 50 years of Manufacturing Progress and Setting the stage for Accelerated Industrialization and Economic Transformation through Local Content”. The theme not only recognizes the advancement that has been scored in the development of the  manufacturing sector but also points to the need to augment and accelerate the growth of the sector and fostering transformation by promoting local content

Among events that have been lined up for the week including the following:

Launch of the Manufacturers’ Week (By Honourable Robert Sichinga, MP, Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry on ZNBC TV);

The Local Content showcase and Business Seminar (To be held in Lusaka at the Government Complex with the Minister of Commerce Trade and Industry Honourable Robert Sichinga, MP, as Guest of Honour);

Proudly Zambian Awareness Campaign (Live TV  Discussion featuring a panel drawn from ZAM and other stakeholders and partner organisations);

The Manufacturers’ Give Back!! (Charity event to be held in Lusaka);

Launch of the Business Linkages component of the DFID funded Private Enterprise Programme;

Signing of Memorandums of Understating (MoUs) geared towards promotion of Local Content with specific partner organisations; and

The Prestigious Manufacturers’ Gala (Held in Lusaka, with His Honour the Vice President of Zambia, Dr. Guy Scott as Guest of Honour).

ZAM is extending an invitation to its members and the general public to participate in the week’s activities as well as request you to provide sponsorship for the series of events. The sponsorship can take the form of monetary or in-kind contribution to the staging of all or part of the week’s activities.

Please note that the tickets for the Prestigious Manufacturers Gala will be sold at the ZAM Secretariat starting from Monday 8th September, 2014 at only K250.
